Is that rhetorical?

Yogi tea puts short phrases on their bags. I made myself a cup of Triple-Ec tonight and read it out loud. “Where there is love, there is no question.” “What?” says my Lady-love. “This is so going up on my blog.” Read More

Conversations I almost had had... ALIENS.

  • September 29, 2007
So my son is playing Alien Assembly Required (yes, Virginia, the web does have some very good kid friendly areas) when he says to me, “I’m going to make these aliens with no arms and no legs. They’re floating above the ground - see? They’re meditating.” Once again, I’m not sure if he made a mistake or if he’s smarter than me. I want me a mentor...

  • September 29, 2007
A friend-of-a-friend has a very interesting observation. He says he’s got an awful lot more people interested in both being mentored as well as having his input as an architectural design consultant / overseer / adviser. I need more practice with code. Simply said, I need more projects to get a better understanding of what I’m doing. I’m getting tired of spending an hour to solve a problem that could have been done in five minutes. But I thought it was quizical. Do you think those phychiatric conditions are related to the relative instances of marriages? I’d like to see some historical counters… Read More

Conversations I almost had had - the Tim Horton's version

  • September 19, 2007
So last Sunday the kids and I end up at Tim Hortons so I can get coffee for me and my Lady-love. Not particularly newsworthy, I know, but there’s a fellow there who has brought two German tourists out for breakfast. He’s trying to explain all the wonderous joys that are constitued by Tim Horton’s in the morning. Like a double-double. “What’s that?” asks Herr Guest. “Two sugars and two cream. These are the people who matter...

A double-shot today. One of the other regulars at VarLinux posted a story of what he did on vacation. It makes me feel inadequate and inspired to do more. Please read it, I’ll let it stand on it’s own without comment but with my highest recommendation. Read More

SCOX, SCOG, litigeous bastards, SCOldera, bankrupt

  • September 15, 2007
Don’t worry, they’d never be irresponsible enough to run the whole company into the ground. Err… Oops. Okay, I’ve chosen my side on this a long, long while back. I’ve very firmly opposed to any of the vitriol spewed out by The SCO Group. I would call it nothing less than a long series of lies, mistruths, disinformation, misinformation, and other activities inappropriate to doing business. I won’t be serving on a jury for those bastards for a while. Don’t you think Psycho 2 would have been a lot better starring Carl Perkins instead? Read More

Conversations I'd almost had had... Part 2

  • September 12, 2007
“Here’s a thought. How about I spew out a bunch of almost one-liners on my blog? Just these psudeo-conversations for no good reason whatsoever. No meaning, not necessarily significant, just a pity little moment of comedy. The only question at that point is, ‘Do I give people any context at all or just enough to make them wonder?” “You’re weird.” Read More

I must be the last geek in the world to have found this...

Yup, they got slashdotted… Yeah, I entirely missed it. The Southern Alberta Balloon Launch Experiment #3 or SABLE-3. Very cool stuff that originates from my stomping grounds! If you look really closely, and get out your best magnifying glasses, you can see me at the lower right. I’m the guy blinking.
